Red Amaryllis

This gouache painting was created during my stay at a Maistra Hospitality Group hotel in Rovinj, Croatia. Painted on the last day before Christmas, it conveys a personal and intimate atmosphere, shaped by the journey, the winter stillness and the temporary studio far from home. The blooming red amaryllis becomes a symbol of warmth and quiet intensity, contrasting with the cooler tones of the surrounding space. Expressive brushstrokes and vivid colours reflect direct observation and an emotional connection to the moment — the calm of a hotel interior, the stillness before a holiday and the presence of life.
