This painting is part of my series “Alpine Plein-Air Painting,” created during my stay in the Austrian mountains. I worked directly in nature, capturing the changing atmosphere of a winter day — the cool air, the distant light and the quiet rhythm of the snow-covered hills. I focused on broad, expressive brushstrokes and layered oil paint to convey movement within stillness. The mountains merge into soft tones of blue and violet, while the snow in the foreground reflects subtle variations of light. The trees and the houses in the distance appear almost as silhouettes, emphasising space and depth. For me, this work embodies the feeling of winter stillness — not frozen, but full of colour and air. It invites the viewer to pause and take in the vastness of the landscape.
