Morning Light at Karlsplatz

I painted this scene during a plein air session at Karlsplatz in Vienna, one of the city’s most beloved gathering places. Surrounded by universities, the square is a popular meeting point for students and young people who relax on the steps near the church or spend time by the pond, enjoying the atmosphere of the city. What drew me in was the warm light glowing through the archway and the quiet harmony of the historic architecture. Rather than focusing on every detail, I wanted to capture the feeling of the moment—the soft colors, gentle shadows, and luminous air that transformed a familiar place into something timeless. This original oil painting reflects my love of painting directly from life and preserving fleeting impressions of light, place, and everyday moments in Vienna.
