A Pause in the Wind

Painted en plein air in Alanya, Turkey, this work was created in strong coastal wind, where I had to hold the canvas with one hand and paint with the other. The weather was constantly shifting — clouds moving quickly across the sky, opening brief windows of light above the mountains. Working directly from nature in these conditions made every brushstroke immediate and instinctive. I followed the changing light on the water and the quiet presence of the lighthouse, trying to capture that fragile balance between movement in the sky and calm below.
